  • Geography of the Arabian Peninsula: Plains, Hills & Mountains
The Arabian Peninsula is more plains, hills, and low tablelands than mountainous.

While there are some significant mountain ranges, such as the Asir Mountains in the southwest and the Oman Mountains in the east, the majority of the peninsula is characterized by:

    * Vast plains: The Empty Quarter (Rub' al Khali) is the largest sand desert in the world, covering a significant portion of the peninsula.

    * Rolling hills: Low hills and undulating terrain are common, particularly in the central and northern regions.

    * Low tablelands: These flat, elevated areas are found throughout the peninsula, with some reaching altitudes of over 1,000 meters.

While the mountains are impressive, they cover a smaller percentage of the peninsula's total land area compared to the plains, hills, and low tablelands.
