  • Anticlines: Understanding Upward Bending Rock Formations
When the Earth's crust bends and curves upward, it creates an anticline.

    Here's why:

    * Anticline: A fold where the rock layers are arched upward, forming a symmetrical, upward-facing curve. This is the opposite of a syncline, where the rock layers curve downward.

Imagine an "A" shape. The top of the "A" would represent the crest of the anticline, where the oldest rock layers are exposed.
