  • Glacial Formations: How Ice Moves Sediment and Erodes Rock
The formation that moves sediment and erodes rock is called a glacial formation.

    Here's why:

    * Glaciers are massive sheets of ice that move slowly over land. As they move, they scrape and grind against the Earth's surface, picking up sediment and eroding rock. This process is known as glacial erosion.

    * The sediment picked up by glaciers is transported and deposited elsewhere, forming various landforms such as moraines, eskers, and drumlins. This process is known as glacial deposition.

While other natural forces like wind and water also erode and transport sediment, glaciers are particularly effective due to their sheer size, weight, and ability to move over long distances.
