Sedimentary rocks are formed from the accumulation and cementation of sediments. These sediments can be:
* Weathering and erosion of existing rocks: Pieces of rocks, minerals, and even fossils are broken down and transported by wind, water, or ice.
* Organic materials: Shells, bones, plant matter, and other biological remains accumulate and solidify.
Igneous rocks are the ones formed from fire, specifically from the cooling and solidification of molten rock (magma or lava).
So, while both sedimentary and igneous rocks are important parts of the Earth's geology, they form through completely different processes.
