  • Understanding the Earth's Mantle: Upper & Lower Layers Explained
    The mantle is divided into two layers:

    * Upper Mantle: This is the layer closest to the Earth's crust. It is made up of solid rock but can behave like a very viscous fluid over long periods.

    * Lower Mantle: This is the layer beneath the upper mantle, extending to the Earth's outer core. It is mostly solid and much denser than the upper mantle.
