  • Transform Plate Boundaries: Where Crust Isn't Created or Destroyed
The type of boundary where crust is neither created nor destroyed is called a transform boundary.

    Here's why:

    * Transform boundaries occur when two tectonic plates slide past each other horizontally. This movement causes friction and can lead to earthquakes, but it doesn't create or destroy crust.

    * Divergent boundaries are where plates move apart, creating new crust.

    * Convergent boundaries are where plates collide, causing one plate to be subducted (pushed under) the other, which destroys crust.

Example: The San Andreas Fault in California is a well-known example of a transform boundary.
