  • Earth's Layers: A Simple Guide to Crust, Mantle, and Core
The three main layers of the Earth are:

    1. Crust: This is the outermost layer, the thin, solid, and rocky shell that we live on. It's like the skin of an apple. There are two types of crust: oceanic crust (found under the oceans) and continental crust (found under land masses).

    2. Mantle: This is the thickest layer of the Earth, made up of hot, dense rock that is semi-solid. It's like the fleshy part of an apple. It's constantly moving in a process called convection, which drives plate tectonics.

    3. Core: This is the Earth's innermost layer, made up mostly of iron and nickel. It's like the core of an apple. It's divided into two parts:

    * Outer Core: Liquid iron and nickel, generating Earth's magnetic field.

    * Inner Core: Solid iron and nickel, incredibly hot and under immense pressure.
