  • The Earth is Round: A History of Understanding Earth's Shape
People have never found out the Earth is flat. The Earth is a sphere, and we've known that for thousands of years.

The idea that the Earth is flat is a modern misconception, often fueled by misinformation spread online. Here's why:

    * Ancient Greek observations: Over 2,000 years ago, Greek philosophers like Pythagoras and Aristotle observed the Earth's shadow on the Moon during a lunar eclipse, which was always round, proving the Earth's spherical shape.

    * Circumnavigation: Ferdinand Magellan's expedition in the 16th century circumnavigated the globe, providing further proof of the Earth's roundness.

    * Modern technology: Satellites, airplanes, and even simple experiments like observing the curvature of the horizon from a high vantage point all demonstrate the Earth's spherical shape.

The belief in a flat Earth is a fringe theory without any scientific basis.
