  • Earth's Metallic Layers: Core Composition & Structure
The layers of the Earth made mostly of metal are the core, which is divided into two parts:

    * Outer core: This layer is primarily made of liquid iron and nickel, with smaller amounts of sulfur, silicon, and oxygen.

    * Inner core: This layer is a solid ball of mostly iron and nickel, with a bit of sulfur. The immense pressure at this depth keeps the metals in a solid state even though the temperature is extremely hot.

While the Earth's crust and mantle contain some metals, they are primarily composed of silicate minerals.
