  • River Deposition: Floodplains & Deltas Explained
Here are two features a river creates through deposition:

    1. Floodplains: These are flat, fertile areas adjacent to a river that are formed when the river overflows its banks during floods. As the water spreads out, it loses energy and deposits sediment, creating the floodplain.

    2. Deltas: These are triangular-shaped landforms created at the mouth of a river where it enters a larger body of water (like a lake or ocean). As the river slows down, it deposits sediment, gradually building up the delta over time.
