The rock cycle is a continuous process where rocks transform into different types over time. It begins with
igneous rocks forming from cooled magma or lava. Weathering and erosion break down these rocks into
sediments, which are transported and compacted to form
sedimentary rocks. Heat and pressure deep underground can transform both igneous and sedimentary rocks into
metamorphic rocks. Finally, these metamorphic rocks can melt back into magma, starting the cycle anew.
