  • Clastic Sedimentary Rocks: Formation, Composition, and Examples
Sedimentary rock formed from fragments is called clastic sedimentary rock.

    Here's why:

    * Clastic refers to the fact that the rock is made up of fragments, or clasts, of other rocks.

    * Sedimentary indicates that the rock formed from the accumulation and cementation of sediments.

So, clastic sedimentary rocks are formed by the weathering and erosion of pre-existing rocks, and then the transportation, deposition, and lithification (compaction and cementation) of those fragments.
