  • The Dawn of Human-Rock Interaction: Exploring Early Rock Use
It's impossible to say definitively which rock was the "first discovered" because:

    * Rocks have always existed. Humans have been interacting with rocks since the dawn of our species.

    * "Discovery" is subjective. It depends on what we mean by "discovered." Did someone formally name and classify the rock? Did they simply use it for a tool?

We can talk about some early uses of rocks:

    * Early humans used rocks for tools: Stone tools like hand axes and arrowheads are among the earliest evidence of human technology.

    * Rocks were used for building: Early civilizations used rocks to build houses, monuments, and other structures.

However, attributing the "first discovered" rock to a specific person or time is simply impossible. Rocks have been around far longer than any human record, and they were always a part of our environment.
