  • Groundwater Springs: Natural Surface Water Formation Explained
One way groundwater can come to the surface naturally is through springs.

Springs occur when the water table intersects the ground surface. This can happen due to various factors, including:

    * Changes in elevation: The water table slopes downwards, and where it intersects the ground surface, a spring forms.

    * Geological formations: Groundwater may be channeled through permeable rock layers that reach the surface.

    * Fault zones: Fractures in the rock can allow groundwater to flow to the surface.

These are just a few examples of how groundwater can emerge as springs.
