  • Understanding the Last Ice Age: The Quaternary Period
    The division of geologic time that many geologists place the last ice age in is the Quaternary Period.

    More specifically, the last glacial period, often called the Late Pleistocene, occurred within the Quaternary Period. This period began about 2.6 million years ago and continues to the present day.
