  • The History of Gravity: Origins and Key Discoveries
Gravity wasn't "discovered" in the sense of a single event or location. It's a fundamental force of nature that's always been present. However, we can trace the understanding and development of the concept of gravity to various people and places:

    * Ancient Greece: Philosophers like Aristotle proposed ideas about objects falling to the ground, but their understanding was based on observation rather than scientific experimentation.

    * India: Ancient Indian mathematicians and astronomers had concepts of gravity and its effects on celestial bodies.

    * Europe, 17th century: Isaac Newton, working in England, formulated the Law of Universal Gravitation. This law explained the force of attraction between any two objects with mass, explaining why objects fall to the ground and why planets orbit the Sun.

So, while no single country can be credited with "discovering" gravity, Newton's work in England was instrumental in developing our modern understanding of this fundamental force.
