    The mountains on the moon are called "montes" (singular: "mons"). This is the Latin word for "mountains".

    Here's an example: Mons Huygens is a prominent mountain on the Moon.

    Interestingly, although we call them "mountains," they are actually "massifs" or "mountain ranges" rather than isolated peaks.
