  • Ponce de León's Northernmost Exploration: Latitude & Florida
Ponce de León's explorations in the Caribbean and Florida did not take him very far north.

    * His most significant northern reach was to the east coast of Florida, specifically the area around present-day St. Augustine.

    * This would place his northernmost point of exploration around 30° North latitude.

    It's important to note that:

    * Ponce de León's primary focus was on finding the mythical Fountain of Youth. He didn't set out to map the coast in detail.

    * His voyages were relatively short, lasting only a few weeks or months.

    * The precise location of his landings is still debated by historians.

Therefore, while we can estimate that 30° North was his approximate northernmost point, the exact latitude is uncertain.
