  • Where Do Plants Grow on the Seafloor? Understanding Seabed Habitats
Plants can't grow roots attached to the seafloor. They need sunlight to perform photosynthesis, and sunlight doesn't reach the seafloor in most areas.

However, there are seaweeds that can be found attached to the seafloor. They use a different method of obtaining energy called photosynthesis.

Here are the zones where you can find seaweeds attached to the seafloor:

    * Intertidal zone: This is the area between high and low tide. Seaweeds in this zone are exposed to air and sunlight at low tide and submerged in seawater at high tide.

    * Subtidal zone: This is the area below the low tide mark. Seaweeds in this zone are always submerged in seawater and have access to sunlight.

So, while plants with roots can't grow in the seafloor, seaweeds with holdfasts can be found in the intertidal and subtidal zones.
