  • Earth's Crust: Understanding Land's Formation and Composition
Land is not a separate layer of the Earth. It's a part of the Earth's crust, which is the outermost solid layer of our planet.

The Earth's crust is made up of two main types:

    * Continental crust: This is the thicker, less dense type of crust that makes up the continents.

    * Oceanic crust: This is the thinner, denser type of crust that makes up the ocean floor.

So, when we talk about land, we're talking about the areas of the Earth's surface that are above sea level and made up of continental crust.
