  • Athyris: Geological Time Period & Extinction
    Athyris is a genus of extinct brachiopods, and they lived during the Paleozoic Era, specifically from the Late Silurian (around 425 million years ago) to the Early Permian (around 299 million years ago).

    This means they existed for a very long time, spanning multiple geological periods:

    * Silurian: Late Silurian

    * Devonian: Entire period

    * Carboniferous: Entire period

    * Permian: Early Permian

    While they were around for a significant portion of the Paleozoic, they went extinct at the end of the Early Permian, likely due to the Permian-Triassic extinction event.
