  • Texas Natural Resources: A Guide to Key Minerals & Energy
There isn't a single "Texas mineral" designated by the state. However, Texas is known for its abundance of natural resources, including:

    * Oil and Natural Gas: Texas is a major producer of both, contributing significantly to the U.S. energy supply.

    * Coal: Found in abundance in the northern part of the state.

    * Lignite: A type of brown coal, commonly used in power generation in Texas.

    * Salt: Extracted in large quantities in the Permian Basin and other regions.

    * Sulfur: Found in association with oil and natural gas deposits.

    * Sand and Gravel: Used in construction and other industries.

    * Gypsum: Used in plaster and cement production.

    * Limestone: Found throughout the state, used in construction and as an industrial mineral.

    Texas State Gemstone:

The official gemstone of Texas is the Blue Topaz. However, it's not necessarily a mineral found in abundance within the state.

Therefore, it's more accurate to say that Texas is known for its diverse mineral wealth rather than a single "Texas mineral."
