  • Quartzite: A Metamorphic Rock – Why It Doesn't Become Igneous
Quartzite does not turn into an igneous rock.

    Here's why:

    * Quartzite is a metamorphic rock. It forms when sandstone (a sedimentary rock) is subjected to intense heat and pressure.

    * Igneous rocks form from the cooling and solidification of molten rock (magma or lava). This is a completely different process than the transformation of sandstone into quartzite.

So, quartzite and igneous rocks are formed through entirely different processes and cannot transform into each other.
