  • Gypsum and Halite: Distinct Minerals, Not a Compound
    Gypsum and halite don't form a single mineral together. They are two distinct minerals with different chemical compositions:

    * Gypsum: Hydrated calcium sulfate (CaSO₄·2H₂O)

    * Halite: Sodium chloride (NaCl)

    While they can sometimes occur together in the same geological formations, they don't chemically combine to create a new mineral.
