  • North Pole: Land or Water? Understanding the Arctic Ice
The North Pole is located in the Arctic Ocean. So, it's in water.

However, it's important to note that:

    * Sea ice covers the North Pole for much of the year. This ice can be several feet thick, creating a temporary landmass.

    * The ice is constantly shifting and melting, so the exact location and shape of the "land" is always changing.

Therefore, while there isn't a permanent landmass at the North Pole, there is a floating sheet of ice that often exists there.
