  • Tiger's Eye: Understanding the Silicified Form of Crocidolite
The silicified variety of crocidolite is called tiger's eye.

While crocidolite itself is a blue asbestos, the silicification process replaces the fibrous structure with silica, giving it a chatoyant (cat's-eye) effect. This process makes the material more durable and visually appealing, thus giving it the name tiger's eye.
