1. Surface Zone (Sunlight Zone): This is the uppermost layer, receiving sunlight and hosting most of the marine life we think of. It extends down to about 200 meters (656 feet).
2. Transition Zone (Twilight Zone): This layer receives very little sunlight, meaning it's quite dark. It extends from 200 meters to 1,000 meters (3,280 feet).
3. Deep Zone (Midnight Zone): This layer is completely dark and very cold. It starts at 1,000 meters and extends all the way to the ocean floor.
It's important to note that these are just general divisions, and there are actually many more sub-layers within these three main layers.
