  • Marble Transformation: Understanding Metamorphic Rock and Weathering
Marble doesn't turn into another type of rock. It's already a metamorphic rock, formed from the transformation of limestone or dolostone under heat and pressure.

However, marble can further undergo weathering and erosion, breaking down into smaller pieces or dissolving in acidic environments. These smaller pieces can contribute to the formation of new sedimentary rocks, like sandstone or mudstone.

It's also possible that marble can be subjected to even higher temperatures and pressures, potentially transforming it into a different metamorphic rock, but this is less common.
