  • Africa's Equatorial Climate Zones: Rainforest & Savanna Explained
The two most common climate zones found near the equator in Africa are:

    1. Tropical Rainforest Climate: This climate is characterized by high temperatures year-round (average 25-30°C) and high rainfall throughout the year (often exceeding 2000mm annually). It is found in the Congo Basin, parts of West Africa, and coastal areas of East Africa.

    2. Tropical Savanna Climate: This climate is characterized by distinct wet and dry seasons. The wet season brings significant rainfall, while the dry season is typically long and relatively hot. Temperatures are still consistently warm (average 20-30°C) but fluctuate more than in the rainforest. It is found in a broad belt surrounding the rainforest, covering large parts of Central, East, and Southern Africa.
