  • Hawaiian Volcanoes: Which Islands Have Active Ones?
That's not quite right. While Hawaii is known for its volcanoes, not every island has an active volcano.

    Here's the breakdown:

    * Active volcanoes: The Big Island (Hawaii) is the only island with active volcanoes. It has five volcanoes, including Kilauea and Mauna Loa.

    * Extinct volcanoes: The other main islands (Maui, Kauai, Oahu, Molokai, Lanai, and Niihau) were formed by volcanoes that are now extinct. These islands have volcanic features like craters and lava flows, but they no longer erupt.

So, while all the Hawaiian islands are volcanic in origin, only the Big Island has active volcanoes.
