  • Siberia's Location: Arctic, Subarctic, and Temperate Zones Explained
Siberia is not entirely in the polar region.

While a significant portion of Siberia lies within the Arctic Circle, a large part of it is located in the subarctic and temperate zones.

    Here's a breakdown:

    * Arctic: The northernmost part of Siberia, including the Yamal Peninsula, Taymyr Peninsula, and the New Siberian Islands, is within the Arctic Circle. This region experiences the polar night and polar day, with extremely cold temperatures and permafrost.

    * Subarctic: This zone covers a large portion of Siberia, including the regions of Yakutia, Krasnoyarsk Krai, and Irkutsk Oblast. It experiences long, cold winters and short, cool summers.

    * Temperate: The southernmost part of Siberia, particularly in the Altai Mountains and the southern regions of Krasnoyarsk Krai and Irkutsk Oblast, experiences a more temperate climate with distinct seasons.

So, while some parts of Siberia are definitely polar, it's not accurate to say that the entire region is.
