  • Exfoliation: Understanding Rock Weathering and its Causes
    Weathering in which thin sheets of rock flake off the surface is called exfoliation.

    Exfoliation occurs due to the release of pressure from overlying rock, causing the outer layers to expand and break apart in thin sheets. This is a form of physical weathering, also known as mechanical weathering.
