  • Understanding India's Regional Divisions: The Western & Eastern Ghats
The Western Ghats and Eastern Ghats do not "separate" India into five regions.

    Here's why:

    * The Western Ghats and Eastern Ghats are mountain ranges. They are not political boundaries.

    * India is divided into states and union territories. These are the political divisions.

    * The Western Ghats run along the western coast of India. The Eastern Ghats run along the eastern coast of India.

    * These ranges do influence the geography and climate of India. For example, the Western Ghats are responsible for the heavy rainfall in Kerala and the Western Ghats region.

It's important to differentiate between geographical features and political boundaries. The Western Ghats and Eastern Ghats are natural features that are not related to the political division of India.
