  • Kentucky's Largest Lakes: A Guide to Kentucky Lake & Lake Barkley
Kentucky doesn't have any bodies of water that are truly considered "large" in the global sense. However, the three largest bodies of water within Kentucky are:

    1. Kentucky Lake: This reservoir is the largest in the state, formed by the impounding of the Tennessee River. It is a popular spot for boating, fishing, and other water-related activities.

    2. Lake Barkley: This reservoir is formed by the impounding of the Cumberland River. It is known for its scenic beauty and is also a popular destination for recreation.

    3. Lake Cumberland: This reservoir is formed by the impounding of the Cumberland River. It is known for its long shoreline and is also a popular destination for boating and fishing.

While these are the largest, Kentucky has several other notable reservoirs and rivers including the Ohio River, which forms the state's northern border.
