  • Understanding Latitude and Longitude: Why 33°N & 13°S Don't Define a Location
You can't have a location with both 33 degrees north and 13 degrees south.

    * Latitude is measured in degrees north or south of the equator.

    * Longitude is measured in degrees east or west of the Prime Meridian.

You need to specify either a north or south latitude and an east or west longitude to define a location.

    For example, you could ask:

    * "Where is 33 degrees north, 13 degrees west?"

    * "Where is 13 degrees south, 33 degrees east?"
