  • Ptolemy's Geographia: The Ancient World Map & Cartography
Ptolemy's map of the world, known as the "Geographia", was not a single map, but a collection of geographical data and instructions for creating maps. It was compiled around 150 AD.

    It's important to note that:

    * The Geographia was not a map itself, but a text book for mapmaking. It included descriptions of locations, coordinates, and instructions for creating maps based on those data.

    * The actual maps based on Ptolemy's data were created later by cartographers. These maps are often called "Ptolemaic maps" and were influential for centuries.

So, while Ptolemy's work was compiled around 150 AD, the actual maps based on his data were created later.
