  • Lithosphere-Asthenosphere Boundary: Above or Below the Moho?
The lithosphere-asthenosphere boundary is above the Moho.

    Here's why:

    * Moho: The Mohorovičić discontinuity (Moho) marks the boundary between the Earth's crust and the mantle. It is defined by a sharp increase in seismic wave velocity.

    * Lithosphere: The rigid, outermost layer of the Earth that includes the crust and the uppermost part of the mantle.

    * Asthenosphere: The partially molten, weaker layer of the upper mantle below the lithosphere.

Therefore, the lithosphere-asthenosphere boundary occurs within the upper mantle, and it is located above the Moho which marks the beginning of the mantle.
