  • Alaska Volcano Observatory: Volcano Monitoring & Safety
The Alaska Volcano Observatory (AVO) monitors volcanoes in Alaska. There are over 130 potentially active volcanoes in Alaska, and AVO actively monitors the most dangerous ones.

It's important to note that AVO does not release a complete list of *all* the volcanoes it monitors. They focus their efforts on those with a higher likelihood of erupting and posing a threat to communities or aviation.

However, AVO does provide information on its website about the volcanoes it considers to be most active, including those with recent eruptions or elevated unrest.

You can find this information and updates on volcanic activity on the AVO website: [https://www.avo.alaska.edu/](https://www.avo.alaska.edu/)
