  • Marble Rock Type: Understanding Metamorphic Formation
    Marble is a metamorphic rock.

    Here's why:

    * Metamorphic rocks are formed when existing rocks (igneous, sedimentary, or even other metamorphic rocks) are transformed by heat, pressure, or chemical reactions.

    * Marble is formed when limestone (a sedimentary rock) is subjected to these conditions. The heat and pressure cause the calcite crystals in the limestone to recrystallize, resulting in the characteristic marble texture.
