  • Tennessee's Regions: A Guide to East, Middle & West
Tennessee is traditionally divided into three, not six, geographical regions:

    1. East Tennessee: Known for its Appalachian Mountains, rolling hills, and vibrant culture.

    2. Middle Tennessee: Features the Nashville Basin, the state capital, and a mix of rolling hills and flat farmland.

    3. West Tennessee: Characterized by the Mississippi River, fertile bottomlands, and a more agricultural focus.

While these are the three main geographical regions, some might argue that the Cumberland Plateau in eastern Tennessee deserves its own recognition as a distinct region.

There is no official or widely accepted division of Tennessee into six regions.
