The Namib Desert covers a large portion of southwestern Africa. It stretches along the Atlantic coast of Namibia for approximately 1,200 miles (1,930 km), and extends inland for 100 miles (160 km), with a total area of 80,900 square miles (209,000 square km).

It also covers a small portion of southern Angola and western South Africa.
