  • UK Volcanic History: When Was the Last Eruption & Future Risks?
The last volcanic eruption in the UK was around 13,000 years ago, in the area of Northern Ireland. This occurred at a location called the Antrim Plateau, where volcanic activity created the iconic Giant's Causeway.

    However, it's important to note:

    * The UK is not currently considered volcanically active. While there are dormant volcanoes, none are expected to erupt anytime soon.

    * The UK is sitting on the edge of a tectonic plate, which could potentially lead to future volcanic activity in the distant future.
