  • Identifying Continents from Longitude and Latitude: A Guide
You can't determine a continent based on just longitude coordinates. Here's why:

    * Longitude lines run north to south. 20 degrees West and 50 degrees East are lines that circle the globe, each passing through multiple continents.

    * Continents span multiple longitude lines. For example, Africa stretches from approximately 18 degrees West to 51 degrees East.

To find a continent, you need both longitude and latitude. Tell me a latitude coordinate (e.g., 30 degrees North) in addition to the longitude, and I can help you figure out the continent.
