  • Earth's Lithosphere: Understanding Tectonic Plates and Plate Movement
The part of the Earth that is broken into large plates is the Earth's lithosphere.

The lithosphere is the rigid outermost layer of the Earth, composed of the crust and the uppermost part of the mantle. This layer is broken into large pieces called tectonic plates. These plates are constantly moving, interacting with each other, and causing various geological phenomena like earthquakes, volcanoes, and mountain formation.
