  • Arabian Plate Boundaries: Types & Geological Impacts
The Arabian Plate has several types of boundaries with other tectonic plates:

    * Convergent Boundary: The Arabian Plate collides with the Eurasian Plate in the north, creating the Zagros Mountains in Iran and the Taurus Mountains in Turkey. This collision also forms the San Andreas Fault which is a strike-slip fault.

    * Divergent Boundary: The Arabian Plate is moving away from the African Plate in the west, creating the Red Sea rift valley. This is where new oceanic crust is formed.

    * Transform Boundary: The Arabian Plate moves along the Dead Sea Transform Fault, which runs along the eastern edge of the Mediterranean Sea. This boundary causes earthquakes and volcanic activity.

It's important to note: The Arabian Plate is considered a continental plate, and its interactions with other plates lead to various geological features like mountains, valleys, and fault lines.
