  • Volcanic History of Abruzzo, Italy: Exploring Past Activity
While there are no active volcanoes in Abruzzo, Italy, the region does have volcanic origins.

The Majella Massif, Abruzzo's highest mountain range, is a volcanic complex formed millions of years ago. The mountains are made up of volcanic rocks and there are signs of past volcanic activity, including craters, lava flows, and volcanic ash deposits. However, these volcanoes have been extinct for a very long time, and there is no risk of eruptions in the present day.

So, while there are no active volcanoes in Abruzzo, the region's geological history is definitely influenced by volcanic activity.
