  • Mount Rainier Eruptions: History & Future Risks
Mount Rainier has not had a major, destructive eruption in recorded history. While it is an active volcano, its most recent eruption occurred around 1894. This was a relatively small eruption that only produced a small amount of ash.

It's important to note that Mount Rainier is considered a potentially very dangerous volcano due to its large size, the large amount of glacial ice on its slopes, and its proximity to populated areas.

While a large eruption is not imminent, scientists are closely monitoring Mount Rainier and are prepared to issue warnings and evacuation orders in the event of any significant activity.
