  • Brooks Range Formation: Understanding Alaska's Mountain Range
There isn't a mountain range called "Brooks Mountain Range". Do you mean the Brooks Range?

The Brooks Range in Alaska is a result of plate tectonics:

    * Collision: The Brooks Range formed due to the collision between the North American Plate and the Pacific Plate.

    * Subduction: The Pacific Plate is subducting (diving) beneath the North American Plate. This process causes the North American Plate to buckle and fold, creating the Brooks Range.

    * Uplift: The collision also causes uplift, pushing the mountains upwards.

    * Erosion: Over millions of years, erosion by wind, water, and glaciers has shaped the Brooks Range into its current form.

The Brooks Range is a relatively young mountain range, having formed in the Cenozoic Era (the last 66 million years).

Is there anything else you'd like to know about the Brooks Range?
