  • Big Bear Earthquake 1992: Fault Zone & San Andreas Connection
The 1992 Big Bear earthquake occurred on the San Andreas Fault.

While the earthquake's epicenter was located near the town of Big Bear Lake, it was actually triggered by movement on a smaller fault known as the Big Bear Lake Fault. This fault is a branch fault of the San Andreas Fault, which is the major fault system responsible for most of the significant seismic activity in California.
