The main trail, called the Grand Cone Trail, starts from the town of Ercolano and leads directly to the summit. This trail is around 3km long and is considered to be of medium difficulty. It takes approximately 2-3 hours to hike up and 1-2 hours to descend.
The other main trail, called the Sentiero del Matteone, starts from Pompei and is slightly longer at around 4km. This trail is considered to be more challenging and takes approximately 3-4 hours to hike up and 2-3 hours to descend.
